I'm currently teaching 8th grade Spanish. I have taught all levels of Spanish, from kindergarten to high school, at various times in the past 17 years. I have a BA in Spanish and International Relations from Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, IL, and an MA in Spanish Language and Culture from the University of Salamanca in Salamanca, Spain. My shop includes all types of resources for Spanish and French, as well as materials for English Language Arts and ELL.

Spanish Class Objects / School Supplies Skit / Role Play / Speaking Activity - This is a 2-person, 12 line skit featuring common school supplies being purchased in a local shop. The skit includes the use of necesitar plus infinitive, estar, hay, 4 color words, and 5 different school supplies. Included are notebooks, folders, pens, pencils and eraser. There are several useful phrases such as por fin, vale, gracias por, de nada, por favor, and algo más. Included in the download: 1. Skit in Spanish and English, copied 2 per page for student handouts. 2. Skit in Spanish only, copied 2 per page for student handouts. This can be used as a translation assignment. 3. Skit in large font that can be projected and used for presenting and practicing vocabulary as a class. Some of the vocabulary and phrases are also in a separate list at the top to facilitate vocabulary practice of individual words and phrases.

This is a 226 word English to Spanish translation about a family of five. The family is described by one of the children named Alberto. He describes each family member using descriptive adjectives for appearance and personality, the verbs gustar, encantar and odiar with infinitives for likes and dislikes and the verb tener for age. This download also contains the same translation from Spanish to English. Assign the Spanish to English translation first to familiarize your students with the Spanish vocabulary and then at a later date, assign the English to Spanish translation. Both can be used as answer keys to go over the homework with the students.

Spanish Family Human Bingo Game Speaking Activity and Follow-Up Assignment - This activity provides practice asking questions with tener and family vocabulary. Each student mingles with a bingo grid and must find different classmates that can reply yes when asked about the information in one of the 16 boxes. Each box contains a statement about a family member. A sample statement is "A mi padre le gusta jugar al golf." When a student replies yes to a question, the questioning student follows up by asking in Spanish for the student's signature. The goal is to be the first student to fill the entire bingo grid. Also included is a follow up worksheet that requires students to: 1. Write a sentence for each of the 16 boxes in the grid. The student includes the name of the student that signed the box and must change the verb to the third person. 2. Write an appropriate family word under 6 images at the bottom of the paper. This activity works well with students learning family vocabulary, and it's a good back to school review activity for experienced Spanish students.

Write an appropriate Spanish infinitive verb under 6 images at the bottom of the paper. This is a fun way for students to share what they did during their spring vacations while reviewing preterit verb conjugations.
